Things go right when I follow my heart and prayers". Teyana Taylor
The talented, award-winning actress, musician, producer, and director Teyana Taylor is a true ROSE from Harlem. At this point in her career, there is nothing that she can’t do. She has proven that time after time, when she takes that risk in her life, she will be successful, not because of the awards that she has continuously won, but her success shows up with the amount of support she receives and the impact she is leaving on those who look up to her.
On Saturday, June 7th, at Springs Studios, Teyana Taylor hosted an intimate and powerful conversation with powerhouse Janicza Bravo, presented by “Through Her Lens – The Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Program” during the Tribeca Film Festival.

Through Tribeca’s Storytellers Series, Taylor explored the complexities of navigating her career, her family-work life balance, and women’s leadership in filmmaking while empowering them to tell their stories.
As the newest member of the Through Her Lens Advisory Board, Taylor is the perfect example and role model for our culture. She appeared on MTV’s My Super Sweet 16 at an early age and has respectfully made a name for herself with dominant acting roles in Madea’s Big Happy Family, A Thousand and One, and One Battle After Another. While discussing pivoting in her career, Taylor stated, “When you let go and let God, you can not be afraid to leap. I didn’t care what was on the other side, but I didn’t want to stay stagnant. I had a bigger purpose to live for.”
We have seen Teyana Taylor be honored for both her acting work and creative contributions, and although she receives a massive amount of support from her fans, her family is at the center of her heart and with her every step of the way. “It’s always been women around me. I’ve seen every version of the sacrifice through my mom, my aunts, and my grandma, and it wasn’t something I took lightly. In the movie, A Thousand and One, I played Inez. I was able to take my cape off and pour what I needed into her. I could be really vulnerable and imperfect”. Every role that Taylor has stepped into has been made for her. She captivates her audiences and delivers on brilliant masterpieces.

Taylor’s commitment to raising the bar is astounding. At the end of July, she is making her directing debut, and in September, she will be graduating from Culinary School.
Without a doubt Teyana Taylor, is THAT GIRL. She is the voice of the people, and her work speaks for itself. “I love being a warrior and making people proud. It heals me to pour into others because I give love and laughter to everything that I do. I have people that I inspire, so I need to use my voice, and that means the world to me”.
Teyana Taylor is not slowing down anytime soon, and we are excited to support her in all of the chapters of her life.
