Life has a new meaning when you have been knocked down and you find the strength to get up again and fight. The Heavy Hitter from HOT 97, Pretty Lou is the definition of what it means to never give up. After years of fighting through his battle with Leukemia, Pretty Lou has found a way to give back to those who need it the most.

On Wednesday, April 20, 2022, Pretty Lou hosted his 4th annual birthday and benefit concert for Cancer Research at Irving Plaza in the heart of New York City. In a heartfelt and emotional speech, Lou expressed to the audience that the concert was almost canceled since his mother is currently battling lung cancer. He knew he had to do this for his mother. As he thanked everyone for coming out he expressed to us, “the doctors said I was not coming back from the coma that I was in but guess what, I’m F*****G here”!

This year’s line-up was chosen personally by Lou. The two incredible hosts, HOT 97’s Mia Belle and Power 105.1 FM’s Len Boogz kept the crowd rocking all night. Artist such as Fat Joe, Dream Doll, Capella Grey, B-Lovee, Nemz, King Bulova, CJ, Rowdy Rebel, and J.I. the Prince of NY left their mark on the stage by performing some of their latest hits.

Fat Joe, a friend and major support system of Pretty Lou, closed the show out by performing some of his greatest classics such as, New York, Lean Back, What’s Luv? and All the Way Up. It was evident how close these two are and how important their friendship means to each other. During Fat Joe’s set, he provided words of encouragement to everyone in the building, “I work like I ain’t got a dollar, there’s enough money for everybody to win. We gotta support each other”.

As the night came to a close, Extra Butter, a deluxe shopping store in NYC, donated an additional four thousand dollars to the charity event. The proceeds of this year’s event went directly to the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

We at Short N Sweet Ent will continue to uplift Pretty Lou and his family during this time.
