New York, NY – From July 23rd to the 26th, the biggest and most recognizable names in track and field competed in the 2026 Toyota USATF Outdoor & Para National Championship at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island. Thousands of fans filled up the stadium to witness four days of non-stop competition from their favorite runners, throwers, or jumpers.
Noah Lyles, the fastest man in the WORLD, took home 1st place with a world-leading 9.79 to win his 3rd U.S. Men’s 100m title and 10th career National Championship. Lyles matched his personal best, which was set in winning Gold at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. He edged out his competitors, Ronnie Baker, who crossed the finish line in second with a time of 9.88, and Kenny Bednarek, who ran a 9.88 to take third.

In a post-game interview, Lyles stated, “My mindset in today’s race, I wanted to give more, more, more. That’s what me and my therapist were talking about this morning, going in with the idea of asking for more with every step. We’re moving fast, and lets ask for more – let’s run faster and keep going. It’s like you’re running down a hill and can’t control your speed, that type of energy. That’s what we were focusing on.
Lyles was the favorite to complete the sprint double in the 100m and 200m, but shortly after the race began, it looked like he injured himself, but he quickly explained what happened.
“I came around the turn, and my hamstring just grabbed on me, and I thought there was no reason for me to keep pushing that, so I decided to cut it off. It’s just a cramp, and I am going to rest, but this does show me what it takes to keep going, especially for the next Olympics”, Lyles stated.
All of the athletes that competed came out and completely dominated. From stadium records to personal best, competing at the highest levels isn’t easy, but these athletes give it their all, and that’s what matters the most.
